Designing clarity for complex energy data
The context
Aplomb is a software platform built to support energy market operators in making faster and more informed decisions.
The system aggregates large volumes of market data and transforms them into actionable insights for trading, planning and operational strategy.
The challenge was not only technological.
It was primarily a communication and design challenge: how to represent a highly complex analytical tool through a clear and trustworthy visual system.
Brief
Create the visual identity and interface direction for Aplomb, a platform designed for professionals working in the energy market.
The project required:
• A distinct brand identity for a B2B software product
• A visual language capable of representing complexity without looking complicated
• A UI direction that communicates precision, control and reliability
• A scalable design system adaptable across product interface, website and communication materials
The goal was to position Aplomb as a professional, high-trust decision platform.
Design Approach
The design strategy focused on three guiding principles.
Clarity
Information architecture and visual hierarchy were designed to prioritize legibility. The interface behaves almost like an editorial layout, allowing users to quickly scan and understand complex datasets.
Reliability
The visual identity uses restrained typography, balanced spacing and controlled color usage to convey precision and stability. Every element reinforces the idea of a system users can trust for critical decisions.
Control
Interaction patterns emphasize orientation and situational awareness. Users should feel they are navigating a system that provides structure rather than overwhelming them with data.

By aligning brand identity and interface design, Aplomb communicates what the product actually delivers: control over complexity.
The project demonstrates how design can transform sophisticated analytical tools into intuitive and accessible digital products.
